How to Avoid the Bite of An Infected Tick?

A bite of an infected black-legged tick- also known as a deer tick, is the biggest reason for Lyme disease. Though it is not lethal, it may turn a patient’s health condition worse if not diagnosed and treated by the time. It is extremely important to take the right actions and right Lyme disease treatment as soon as you get to know about the bite of a tick. It is essential for the prevention of infection.

In this article, we have compiled a few helpful tips with the help of Dr. Patrick Lynch. These tips may help you avoid the bite of an infected tick. Check them out below!

Beware While Hanging Around in Grassy and Wooded Places

Four species of ticks, including Borrelia burgdorferi, Borrelia mayonii, Borrelia afzelii, and Borrelia garinii are the major reasons for Lyme disease. All these ticks are generally found in grassy and wooded areas. So, be careful while playing or hanging around in those areas. Before sitting or lying down on the ground, make sure to check the entire area properly. If there are ticks on the grass, try to avoid those places. This is one way you can avoid the bite of a tick.

Use Insect Repellent

This is another safe and effective way to avoid the bite of a tick. An insect repellent protects you from the bites of insects by keeping them away from your body. So, according to Trillium Health Solutions, it is a good idea to invest in an authenticated insect repellent.

Whenever you go to your backyard, a garden, a park, or in any grassy or wooded place, apply the insect repellent on your hands, legs, and other body parts that are exposed to the air directly. Its effect will remain for a long time and so all types of ticks will stay away from your body. However, one thing to note here is that you need to be extra careful while applying insect repellent to your body parts. One mistake can put you in an unwanted danger. So, we would suggest following the usage instructions properly while applying the repellent to your body.

Wear Full Clothes

We often love to hang around in parks, gardens, or our own courtyard wearing shorts, half sleeve t-shirts, and half-pants. These clothes let our bodies feel free and enjoy the fresh air. However, these clothes can become bothersome for you because ticks can easily target your body in these clothes. So, we would suggest wearing full clothes when you hang around in grassy and wooded areas.
